Study Purpose

Looking for help to lose the weight you gained during pregnancy?

Pennington Biomedical Research Center and East Baton Rouge Parish Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program are seeking overweight and obese moms to participate in a weight loss program designed to lose weight after pregnancy.

About the Study

The purpose of the E-Moms research study is to test whether a personalized weight loss program called SmartLoss® can help overweight and obese women lose the weight they gained during pregnancy. The goal of SmartLoss® is to provide women with diet and lifestyle information that will promote healthy weight loss after pregnancy. We will help mothers make healthy food choices, use their WIC food package better, and incorporate regular exercise while taking care of their new baby. Women receiving the SmartLoss® program will receive information and work with a counselor through an iPhone. We will compare weight loss after pregnancy in women who do the SmartLoss® program to women who receive information in her WIC appointment.
