Study Purpose

The purpose of the TARA-2 research study is to evaluate the Russian Tarragon plant and its effects on the process our bodies go through to convert carbohydrates into energy (carbohydrate metabolism). This study will assess the safety and tolerance of multiple doses of Russian Tarragon versus a placebo.

About the Study

Russian Tarragon has a long history of medical (health) and culinary (food) use in various parts of the world. The possible health aspects of this plant have been studied extensively, including by researchers in Pennington Biomedical’s Botanical Dietary Supplements Research Center.

The TARA-2 research study will evaluate whether Russian Tarragon could be used as a dietary supplement to improve the process our bodies go through to convert carbohydrates into energy (carbohydrate metabolism).

Over a period of four months, study participants will receive three oral doses of the supplement during each of three 21-day testing periods (two doses of the supplement and one dose of placebo each testing period). In total, study participants will complete 27 clinic visits following the completion of their initial screening visit.
