Pre-PLACE Study

Study Type

Study Purpose

Research has shown that most children do not engage in the recommended levels of physically activity. Researchers are exploring new ways parents can help their children be more physically active.

The Pre-PLACE research study will determine if parents can use a mobile phone application (app) to help their children be more physically active.

About the Study

Children and a parent/guardian will visit a local community location for a screening and first study visit. Children will be asked to wear a FitbitĀ® activity monitor throughout the study.

Parents will receive instructions through a smartphone app to help their child to increase physical activity for 12 weeks. Parents and participants will return to the community location at the end of the study for a final visit.
