The Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a research facility of the Louisiana State University System, seeks to hire a Research Specialist to provide administrative support for the Director of the Ingestive Behavior Laboratory (IBL) and the Behavior Technology Laboratory (BTL), and be responsible for data collected in the laboratory. Responsibilities include: Manage day-to-day operations of the IBL and BTL. Assist with the collection and management of energy intake, energy expenditure, and body weight data collected within the IBL or in participantsâ€™ home environment. Maintain IBL and BTL compliance with protocol-specific procedures, HIPAA guidelines, PBRCâ€™s Standard Operating Procedures, and Good Clinical Practice. Prepare and conduct clinical appointments, including interviews, study visits, and test meals. Assist with the development of study protocols, IRB documents, grant applications, presentations (oral and posters), reports to funding agencies, and manuscripts. Collecting data for PBRC clinical trials that are assessing eating behavior and attitudes, psychological constructs, physical activity, body image, and body weight change. Administering psychological questionnaires and interviews, scoring and managing data. Contributing to the construction of grant applications, study protocols, research texts, and presentations.
Applicants must possess at least a BA or BS degree in psychology, nutrition, or a related field. Experience in conducting experiments with human volunteers and administrative tasks are preferred. In addition to the above requirements, the successful applicant must show excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
