The Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a research facility of Louisiana State University System is seeking a Biostatistician to support biomedical research by analyzing and providing valid statistical interpretations of research findings in complex experimental and survey designs. The position will require providing oversight for organizing and checking data for integrity and validity, merging and extracting data from electronic databases, writing advanced SAS and other software code for data analytics, and developing valid and transparent summaries of research findings. The position employs advanced statistical methods such as generalized linear and nonlinear modelling using mixed effects models for data that are distributed as the Gaussian, Binomial, Poisson and logistic distributions. The successful applicant must be able to address statistical issues that arise in peer review queries in grant and publication submissions. The position entails working with an experienced team of statisticians to develop and maintain active statistician-client collaborations within the Pennington Biomedical research environment.
Master's Degree in Applied Statistics or Biostatistics preferentially with coursework in probability, mathematical statistics, experimental design, regression analysis, logistic regression, mixed models, categorical data analysis, survival analysis and survey sampling. The position also requires skills in database management using the SAS software package, and excellent oral and written communication proficiency.
