Under the administrative direction of the Director of Fiscal Operations, the incumbent is responsible for the management of all business and administrative matter for the assigned scientific laboratories and is also responsible for budget and planning projections for all restricted and unrestricted funds. This position will work independently with some supervision. Job Responsibilities (List essential duties and responsibilities to accomplish the job.) 30% Maintain budget planning & projection system for all restricted & unrestricted funds; prepare quarterly budget projections; assist in long range financial planning; establish effective record keeping and processing system. 20% Act as resource person, provide direct or indirect supervision, take an active role in processing, approving all forms and take responsibility for all work done in the following areas: purchasing, personnel form review, grant/contract budget preparation, department expenditures and travel voucher processing. 25% Maintain accurate accounting of departmental budget expenditures and credits on research accounts; do monthly projections of grant account expenditures; write memoranda to Accounting Department to correct errors on ledgers; take responsibility for closing out all grant accounts in a timely, accurate fashion within available funds; monitor cost allocations to insure accuracy among an investigator’s multiple cost centers and maximize use of available funds; assign expenditures and credits to proper accounts; oversee all rebudgeting and expenditures justifications; handle correspondence with federal, private, and local granting agencies when appropriate; handle preparation of departmental budgets and annual raise lists; process faculty time and effort and space reports; act as Director’s representative as requested; gather information and prepare reports; establish databases and spreadsheets for maintenance of departmental records. 25% Remain current on granting agency regulations, application procedures, and choices of pertinent funding sources; counsel with Center faculty and staff concerning business and financial rules and regulations, particularly in the area of gifts, grants and contracts; insure compliance with all federal grant rules and regulations.
Required: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related field and 6+ years of experience OR Masters degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related field and 3+ years of experience
