Description:
The Pennington Biomedical Research Center (PBRC), a research facility of the Louisiana State University System, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position in the Gene Regulation and Metabolism Laboratory. A qualified applicant will work on a project aimed at understanding the molecular mechanisms of brown adipose tissue (BAT) metabolism. The scope of the project will include transcriptional regulation of BAT thermogenesis, signaling mechanisms of BAT thermogenesis, and metabolic phenotyping of genetically modified mice. We employ a broad panel of techniques including mammalian cell culture, transfection and infection, western blot, RNA extraction and qPCR, confocal microscopy, whole body animal phenotyping and ex vivo metabolic analyses.
Qualifications:
Qualified applicants must have a Ph.D degree in cell and molecular biology, nutrition, physiology or a related field. Excellent communication skills and previous experience working with cells and transgenic/knockout mice are an essential qualification.
