Description:
The Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a research facility of the Louisiana State University System, is seeking a full-time postdoctoral researcher within the Oxidative Stress and Disease Laboratory. The laboratory is an NIH funded, established research group focusing on various aspects of oxidative stress, redox signaling and mitochondrial function in diabetes and its complications, mainly chronic kidney disease and diabetic nephropathy. The successful candidate will actively participate in the ongoing research of the laboratory, which includes animal models of diabetes and kidney disease, surgical procedures, histology, PCR, Western blotting and confocal microscopy, molecular biology methods, biophysical approaches in redox biology, data collection and analysis. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to actively participate in grant applications and publications.
Qualifications:
Required qualifications: The successful candidate has a PhD in Biochemistry, Physiology or any similar or related medical sciences and strong biochemistry background as well as general laboratory experience beyond classroom-based laboratories. Candidates should be highly motivated and driven, with a flexible work schedule and should be able to work well in a team. Small animal handling, surgery skills and/or molecular biology/biochemistry experience is required. Applications will be accepted until a suitable candidate is found. Desired qualifications: Experience in nephrology research and/or mitochondrial/redox biology would be a definite plus.
