BodyKey™ SmartLoss™ Program Launched in U.S., Canada
LSU Pennington Biomedical Research Center, Amway Corp. announce collaboration

BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA – LSU’s Pennington Biomedical Research Center and Amway Corporation announced the launch of the new BodyKey™ SmartLoss ™ Program in the U.S. and Canada during a media event Wednesday.

The program incorporates personalized eating plans and digital coaching strategies for goal setting and behavior change delivered via a smartphone app.

The SmartLoss™ Digital Coach prototype and SmartLoss™ Graph technology were funded, in part, by the LSU Lift grant program. In 2014, Drs. Leanne Redman and Corby Martin at Pennington Biomedical secured a research grant to develop software to enhance their smartphone app for weight loss and weight management.

The app, available on iTunes, and Google Play fills the gap in weight-loss management that a personal coach normally provides. Many people know what to do, but they have a hard time changing their daily habits.

The app helps teach users how to implement healthy habits, lets them track their weight and steps each day, how much food they’ve eaten and provides personalized suggestions on how to reach their weight-loss goal over six months.

"One of our top priorities is to transfer our 30 years of scientific discoveries from the laboratory, to the doctor's office, to the workplace, and to individuals in the community… So that we can all make daily health choices that improve their lives," said Dr. John Kirwan, Pennington Biomedical Executive Director. "This collaboration provides a local and global distribution platform for reaching individuals with this new support process."

This app puts a weight-loss coach in your pocket. And it’s proven to work. The personalized SmartLoss™ Graph developed and tested at Pennington Biomedical is one of the world’s most accurate models for mapping expected weight loss.

"We know attaining and maintaining a healthy weight is vital to optimal health, but losing weight can be confusing—false promises are everywhere,” said Paul Seehra, Director of Global Discovery at Amway. “Our work to integrate Pennington Biomedical’s SmartLoss™ technology into the BodyKey™ program enables Amway to deliver an easy-to-follow weight loss solution based on scientifically-supported strategies."

Exclusive BodyKey™ by Nutrilite™ products, including the new Meal Replacement Shakes, are also included in the BodyKey™ SmartLoss ™ Program. For more information on these products, go to Amway.com.
