Study Purpose
The purpose of this research study is to determine how sitting for long periods of time impacts your overall health and risk of developing heart disease and diabetes.
About the Study

Do you know how too much sitting impacts your health?

Despite the health benefits of physical activity, many individuals get little to none on a daily basis. Sitting down for extended periods of time is rising as a risk factor for Diabetes, Heart Disease, and more. Pennington Biomedical is looking for healthy individuals to participate in a research study looking at the effects sitting down may have on different body functions and health risk factors.

Study Design

Number of visits:

  • 1 screening visit
  • 9-13 clinic visits
  • 2 inpatient visits, each 27-hours long

Study procedures:

  • ECG
  • Indirect Calorimetry
  • DXA scan
  • Fat and muscle biopsy
  • VO2 Max Test
  • MRS scans
  • Continuious glucose monitor
  • Blood draw
  • Urine collection
All study related meals and procedures will be provided at no cost to participants.
Study Qualifications
In overall good health
Study Duration
6-12 weeks
Compensation
Earn up to $1000 for participation.
