Apple Pear 2 Study
Study TypeWomen's Health
Study PurposeThe Apple Pear 2 research study aims to determine why women carry weight differently and how this may affect their health.
About the Study
Did you know that where women carry their weight may affect their health? Women's body shapes vary. Some women carry the majority of fat above the waist ("apple"-shaped), and some women carry fat below the waist ("pear"-shaped).
Because "pear"-shaped women tend to have better health, researchers at Pennington Biomedical are looking at what causes women to be either "apple"- or "pear"-shaped at the cellular level, and how this relates to their health.
