MEDI T2D Study

Study Type

Study Purpose

In many cases, weight loss has shown to improve blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes. Many existing medications for type 2 diabetes focus primarily on lowering blood sugar, therefore there is a need for medications that both help lower both blood sugar levels and lead to significant weight loss in an effort to help slow down or even reverse type 2 diabetes.

The MEDI T2D research study will assess the effectiveness of a study drug, when combined with metformin, for the potential management of type 2 diabetes. Researchers will also evaluate how well the study drug reduces weight in patients with type 2 diabetes.

About the Study

The study consists of 20 total visits to the Pennington Biomedical outpatient clinic. These visits will take place over a period of approximately 2 years.
